(111) Microsoft Intune - Block Restricted Apps (iOS)

If an organisation has the need to block apps like TikTok from the App Store, this is what you need to do.


Device Compliance must be set with the 'restricted apps'

To block users from accessing the URLs from browsers

Navigate to https://intune.microsoft.com/ > Devices> iOS/iPadOS > Create > Templates > Device Features > expand Web content filtering and enter the following URLs:


Under Block URLs:

To block users from downloading blocked apps from App Store

Navigate to https://intune.microsoft.com/ > Devices> iOS/iPadOS > Create > Setting Catalog > search for Blocked App Bundle IDs, enter the following:


com.zhiliaoapp.musically

com.einnovation.temu

If a user was to download TikTok from the App Store, the app will not show in home screen, when the user does try to open it, they will get this message.

The iOS device willl become non-compliant, this will then require IT to remove the app from the device.

Go to https://intune.microsoft.com/#view/Microsoft_Intune_DeviceSettings/AppsIosMenu/~/iosApps then select Add > iOS Store App > search for TikTok then set as uninstall.

Once the device has received the uninstalled, re-run Company Portal on the iOS, then it will become Compliant.
